Pew Charitable Trusts

Pursuing common cause. Invigorating civic life.

Since its foundation in 1948, the Pew Charitable Trusts has worked to improve public policy, inform the public, and stimulate civic life. I worked as a Graphic Designer and Digital Associate, designing infographics, reports, and social media graphics for advocacy campaigns. I also performed photo research and UX testing during two website redesigns across three years. I led graphic design at Stateline, the independent news organization.

We refreshed the visual identity and began to classify documents into types such as reports and fact sheets. I performed digital production work to help bring the website to life.

I contributed to the social media campaigns, and used my UX skills to help develop a taxonomy that became the organizing hub for material on the global website. Content became cross-linked, driving up conversions and increasing the length of time visitors remained on the site. I continued to contribute graphic design in the form of infographics, explainers, HTML newsletters, interactive quizzes, fact sheets, and a video podcast. I worked with journalists on a daily basis during story pitches, to understand the day's events and translate the "five Ws" of a news story into graphic design and social media. Our articles were routinely syndicated across the nation, and were picked up by Washington DC political media.
